A 36-year-old police armed guard was killed when the two-wheeler he was riding was hit by a vehicle from behind near Hatyari More on the national highway-33, the police said today.
The incident happened when Ishwari Prasad Mehta, who was posted at Charhi police station in Hazaribag district, was returning to the police station after his duty at an area away from it last evening, they said.
On being informed about the incident, police rushed him to the Hazaribag sadar hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Mehtas identify was established from his Identity Card in the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the two-wheeler of the victim escaped immediately after the incident, the police added.
