The woman had gone to Bhaluka police outpost under Harischandrapur police station to lodge a complaint, police said.
However, Bhaluka outpost in-charge Sanat Kumar Biswas allegedly did not attend to her complaint and made an indecent proposal to her.
The woman went away and returned with a group of people, police said, adding that she hit Biswas with a shoe while others too assaulted him.
No arrests have been made in this connection so far.
