Twelve policemen including two sub-inspectors were injured when people allegedly attacked them when they stepped in to broker a truce between two sides disputing over installation of a transformer in Nathapur village here.
The incident took place on Saturday, Station House Officer (SHO), Puwayan, Jasveer Singh said.
"There was a dispute in Nathapur village over installation of a transformer. Police reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers. However, the villagers started throwing stones at the policemen and even beat them up," the SHO said.
Two SIs and 10 police jawans were injured and shifted to hospital, Singh added.
He said a case was registered against 41 villagers and nine of them have been arrested.
