Police here is keeping a watch over any SMSes being sent to the voters in violation of the model code of conduct for the December 1 polls in the state.
Any SMS violating the model code of conduct, election commission's directions and guidelines and Conduct of Election Rules 1961 will be treated as objectionable and action against the sender will be taken accordingly, Additional DG Alok Tripathi said.
He said that action will be taken if the sender offers any temptation to the voters or threaten them, or seeks votes in the name of caste or community.
"Complaints can be registered through SMS at 08082000222," he added.
