Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V Narayanasamy joined hundreds of devotees in pulling the chariot of Tirukameeswarar temple at a village near here on the occasion of annual car festival today.
Later, Bedi, Narayanasamy and officials of various departments offered worship at the 12th century temple in Villianoor and went round the shrine.
The temple is among the ancient shrines in Puducherry and as per tradition, the Head of the State should drag the chariot on the occasion of the car festival.
Several philanthropists held special camps to distribute food to the devotees thronging the shrine on the occasion.
