Replying to the debate on demands for grants to his departments, Shah Jahan said of the 1425 acres available with government, around 800 acres were in Sedarapet and Karasur villages in Puducherry and 600 acres at Polagam in Karaikal.
He said the government owned Industries Development Corporation (PIPDIC) would allot the land and industrial plots to entrepreneurs on lease basis so that they could start industries to ensure industrial growth in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
PIPDIC had already applied for an assistance of Rs 10 crore from the centre for infrastructure facilities in the estates under its control.
The new industrial policy unveiled last year would be of help for attracting entrepreneurs, he claimed.
