The postmortem report of the skeletal remains alleged to be that of Akansha Sharma's said she died of strangulation, a senior police officer said today.
"Today we received the postmortem report of skeletal remains and it states that the cause of death was strangulation," Superintendent of Police, Bankura, Sukhendu Hira said.
The SP said a DNA test would be carried out of the skeletal remains after collecting samples of Akansha's parents to find out whether it was really Akansha's remains as claimed by Udayan Das, her live-in partner and murderer.
Udayan has confessed to police during interrogation that he allegedly killed the Bankura girl by strangulating her in his Bhopal house on July 15 last year, Hira said.
Akansha had made her last call to her mother on June 30.
