Power Ministry is looking for an experienced and senior person from within the central or state governments for the post of Director General of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
Applications are invited from the Indian Nationals for the post of Director General, BEE on deputation/short term contract for a period of five years or till attaining the age of 60 years whichever is earlier," stated Power Ministry notice for recruitment.
As per an addendum uploaded on the ministry's website today, the maximum age for post shall be 56 years on the closing date of application.
The ministry wants the person to have 25 years of post qualification experience. Besides, it also wants that the person should be at senior level of an organisation of repute.
Currently, Ajay Mathur is holding the charge of the post at BEE, after his appointment as Director-General of The Energy Resource Institute (TERI) by its Governing Council on July 23.
He was appointed to replace the controversial TERI Director General R K Pachauri, who was facing sexual harassment charges.
"Mathur is holding both the positions for almost two months since his appointment as DG of TERI in July. Thus there is need for appointment of new BEE chief as both the positions requires full time attention," a senior official said.
BEE is a statutory body under Power Ministry established under the provision of Energy Conservation Act, 2001 to promote energy efficiency in the country.
The BEE Director-General is its Chief Executive Authority and is responsible for the successful implementation of its objectives.
The ministry has given 45 days time to the applicant for applying. Besides meeting education and relevant experience criteria, all candidates have to send a 500 words write up on 'A Road Map for Energy Efficiency and Conservation in India over the next 5 years'.
