Power supply was disrupted in the city today following some technical fault in power transmission, causing major inconvenience to people.
"Power supply in several areas of the city was hit because of technical fault developed in transmission supply from Mohali, Punjab," a senior official of Chandigarh Electricity department said here.
Power supply to southern sectors of Chandigarh including sector 38, 46, 47 was hit because of the breakdown in power supply at Punjab State Power Corporation Limited's Mohali power sub station.
The substation caters to almost 40 per cent of Chandigarh's total energy requirement.
The power officials said efforts were on to restore the power supply.
