President to skip Bagan 125th year celebration

President Pranab Mukherjee will skip Mohun Bagan's 125th year celebration where the reigning I-League champions will be felicitated at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on August 22.
"The president's wife is indisposed and he has cancelled all his engagements in the capital as well as in Kolkata," a top Mohun Bagan official said today.
The green-and-maroon brigade, which had been celebrating their annual day on July 29 to mark their historic IFA Shield triumph over East Yorkshire Regiment on the same day in 1911, had shifted the date August 22 to match with the President's schedule.
The team management will hand the champions team a cash award of Rs 10 lakh in the felicitation as the entire I-League winning squad, besides the duo of Sony Norde and Pierre Boya, is expected to be present.

"We're trying our best so that the entire I-League winning team is present," the official said.
The cultural programme will feature singers Sonu Nigam and Anwesha Dutta.
