President Pranab Mukherjee, who will worship Goddess Durga at his ancestral village in Mirati, today visited the school he had studied up to the primary level in Birbhum district.
The authorities of the Kirnahar High School have set up a museum where mementos relating to the long political life of Mukherjee would be exhibited.
Earlier, on his arrival he was greeted at a temporary helipad by the Fishery minister Chandranath Sinha and District Magistrate J P Meena.
The President was accompanied by his wife Subhra.
From the helipad he went on a visit to his elder sister, Annapurna, at Kirnahar village.
On Friday he would visit the Visva Bharati University at Santiniketan.
He would be present at a cultural programme organised at the Lipika auditorium and speak with teachers and officials of the university.
