"As per the directions of Supreme Court, of the total 72,825 vacancies the government has appointed 43,651 primary teachers after four round of counselling," Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chowdhury said in the Legislative Assembly.
He said that for the remaining vacancies, the department is issuing appointment letters to the eligible candidates.
The matter was raised during Question Hour by Congress member Anugrah Narain Singh who wanted to the know the status of vacancies.
The minister in his reply said that a number applicants had applied from more than one place and they have been issued appointment letters from several places.
