Krishna Kumar, aged 52, who was on duty last night in the open jail in Jaitsar area, was found lying in a pool of blood this morning, Circle Officer (Raisingh Nagar) Ramkishan said.
Kumar was attacked with some blunt weapon, he said.
After the crime, a murder convict was found missing, the officer said.
