Prisoner escapes police custody from medical hospital

A prisoner, who was under treatment in a hospital here, escaped from the police custody today.
The absconder identified as Mahendra (45), was imprisoned in Bijnor jail in a dacoity case. He was brought to the medical hospital here on March 21 for a treatment, police said.
Police teams have been deployed and efforts are on to trace the absconder, adding a report has been sent to Bijnor jail and action may also be taken against police officials who escorted Mahendra, said Om Prakash, Superintendent of Police.
