Prisoner flees while being taken to jail

An undertrial prisoner today fled while he was being taken back to Dasna Jail here from Aligarh district where he was taken in connection with the murder case lodged against him.
The prisoner has been identified as Sahid, alias Chaman, a resident of Vijay Nagar area, according to jail officials.
Sahid fled from the police vehicle when it reached near Masuri bus stand this evening, police said.
"Sahid pushed cops escorting him, attacked them, jumped off the vehicle and fled. They were travelling in a Bolero car," said a police officer.
Sahid was lodged in Dasna Jail for several months.

He was facing trial in a murder case and was taken to Aligarh district, were the crime took place, for investigation.
Sahid along with two prisoners-- Sanjay Verma, a resident of Bullandshahr, and Ahmed Ahsan, a resident of Aligarh -- were taken to Aligarh two days back.
Police said they were investigating the role of policemen escorting the three prisoners and investigation was on.
