Gujarat minister Pradipsinh Jadeja today said that he had asked the state's Cyber Cell to probe messages appearing on social media which were hurting people's sentiments and causing law and order issues.

"Several messages appear on social media platforms that cause law and order problems and hurt the sentiments of people. Such messages are made viral by certain people. I have asked the Cyber Cell to investigate and look into this," Jadeja, the Minister of State for Home, told PTI.

Jadeja's move comes against the backdrop of several messages on social media that have caused embarrassment to the BJP government in the state.

Recently, based on one such message circulating on social media, Patidar leader Hardik Patel had claimed that Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had resigned and a new CM would be appointed in 10 days.

While Rupani had claimed ignorance about the message, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel had said that such rumours were intentionally spread by BJP's opponents.

The quota agitation leader had also earlier claimed that the Deputy CM was going to quit the BJP and join hands with him.

The claim was rubbished as a rumour by the Deputy CM himself.

The government has also faced embarrassment after several videos, showing assaults on Dalits over trivial issues, went viral on social media.
