Hluna, a professor of Pachhunga University College, would hold the top job of the BJP unit for three years after which an election would be held, a party statement issued here said.
Meanwhile, former president of the central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) Lianzuala was appointed as member of the BJP's National Council, the statement said.
The meeting held in Aizawl was chaired by the BJP's spokesperson Nalin Kohli and attended by party leaders from the north east.
Earlier on December 18, the BJP could not conduct organisational election and the party workers reportedly opposed the appointment of Hluna at that time, exposing internal squabbles in the party.
