Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC has been promulgated in and around Bandua village in Jharkhand's Palamau district, after tension prevailed between members of two groups over organising a function on Wednesday, police said.
The district administration deployed adequate police force to maintain law and order, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Palamau, Shantanu Kumar Agrahari, said that the incident was a fallout over encroachment of land between the two groups.
Agrahari said police was also pressed into action to identify miscreants responsible for bursting crackers on the spot.
Bursting firecrackers had triggered the tension, a police officer said.
The DC said a meeting has been convened involving members from both the groups to sort out the problem and restore peace in the area.
