Puducherry Chief Minister N.Rangasamy today said promises given on the floor of the House and also outside were being fulfilled and speedy steps taken to implement the assurances.
Talking to reporters after participating in a function of the Health Department here, the Chief Minister said the government had promised that free supply of rice would be restored discontinuing the payment of cash equivalent to the ten kilo free rice.
"This is being implemented now. Card holders could get the ten kilo rice per card for May and for the current month through the ration shops. In all each card would be issued now twenty kilos."
He said he had written to the Centre seeking allocation of 1500 tons of wheat to Union Territory as wheat at the rate of five kg per card would also be issued free of cost through ration shops.
He disagreed with the opposition criticism that government was delaying implementation of the assurances given during the run up to the Assembly polls in 2011.
"We are quite conscious of our obligations and nothing would be left wanting to implement the assurances," he said.
No section of students would face difficulty in getting admission to higher education institutions and any difficulty students faced now would be tackled fast, he added.
