Prompt action by gateman save lives at railway crossing

An alert railway gateman today helped in averting a major mishap when he immediately informed the station authorities of a vehicle carrying more than a dozen people stuck at a railway crossing.
The incident took place at Paper Mill Road under Sadar Bazar Police Station when the vehicle got trapped at the railway crossing. A Delhi-bound train from Saharanpur was arriving but prompt action by the gateman, who informed railway officials of the situation, brought the train to a halt, Superintendent of Police Jagadish Sharma said.
The gateman's negligence can't be denied in the entire incident but prompt action by him helped save many lives, he added.
