In protest against alleged irregularities in recruitment of police constables, hundreds of job aspirants today marched in the city and damaged hoardings highlighting the achievement of the Samajwadi Party government in the state.
The job aspirants, shouting slogans, started a march from Bhuteswhar area on Vrindaban collectorate road. They were stopped by police near the State Bank Crossing, where they blocked traffic for about an hour.
"We want cancellation of the result since out of roughly 40 thousand candidates, maximum are from Etah, Mainpuri and Etawah," a job aspirant said.
They later submitted a memorandum to the district administration.
"We have taken their memorandum and tried to convince them that injustice would not be done to them," City Magistrate Hem Singh said.
Meanwhile, ABVP leader Umesh Sharma said they would stage a protest at the collectorate tomorrow.
