Union Minister and IUML veteran E Ahamed, seeking his seventh innings in Parliament from the northern district of Malappuram, is the senior most among the candidates, who traces their educational roots to the Government Law College.
After his graduation from GLC in 1961, Ahamed practised in the High Court in Kochi and district court in Thalassery before entering politics.
His cabinet collegue Kodikkunnil Suresh, who is contesting from Mavelikkara constituency, is also a former student of the College.
Sampath has also the credit of serving the college as a teacher for some time before joining politics.
LDF's Palakkad candidate M B Rajesh, RSP's candidate in Kollam N K Prema Chandran, Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidate in Thiruvananthapuram Ajith Joy are also among the list of alumni of this prestigious institution.
Reghnath K R,principal in-charge of the college,said it is a proud moment for the institution and teachers' fraternity.
He also said law could not be separated from politics and it is good that more law graduates were coming into the field.
One of the oldest legal institutions in the country, the Government Law College was established as a Law Class by Travancore royal rulers in 1875.
The Law Class, which was working as a part of His Highness College, was raised to the status of an independent college under the designation of "His Highness Maharaja's Law College" in later years.
