The Union Territory recorded 11.09 cm rain in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 a.M today, official sources said.
Although there was respite in the rains since 9 a.M, the sky remained overcast.
All schools and colleges remained closed today in Puducherry and Karaikal regions in response to the order issued yesterday by the Directorate of Education as a precautionary measure.
Normal life has been hit as Puducherry was battered by rains for some days.
Chief Minister N.Rangasamy has directed the Directorate of Agriculture to make a fast assessment of the impact of the rains on horticulture crops.
