Pun allows power connections to 2nd unit within unit premises

Following industry's demand, Punjab government today announced to release electricity connections to second commercial unit set up within an existing unit premises.
In a meeting held here with a delegation of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asked Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd CMD K D Chaudhary to submit a proposal for reframing electricity policy to release power connection to second commercial unit established within the premises of an existing unit.
The members of delegation apprised Deputy CM that industry department had no objection on operation of more than one manufacturing unit in the same plot, building or premise while in PSPCL parameters that it was 'illegal use of electricity'.
The Deputy CM assured the industrialists and issued directions to CMD Powercom to in this regard, an official release said here.
Interacting with industrialists, Badal also directed Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board not to seal the entire industrial unit if it was releasing polluted effluents.
Only that machinery, which is causing pollution, be seized not the entire machinery in the premises, he directed.
Badal said he would consider the industrialists' demand for Input Tax Credit. He said that a committee has been formed to look into the issue.
