Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said the proposed Pune Metro project would be cleared within four days.
"The state government's proposal for Pune Metro was received yesterday at 5:50 PM in Delhi by my ministry and necessary clearance will be given to the project within four days," he said.
Naidu was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the foundation laying of the Nagpur Metro project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at Kasturchand Park ground here.
He also said that the third phase of Mumbai Metro is on the cards.
Responding to a query on Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURUM), Naidu said, "The programme is due to lapse in 2014 and a new comprehensive mission with a new name would be announced within a month."
To a question, he said all efforts will be made to develop Vidarbha region even as he sidestepped a query on creation of separate Vidarbha state.
The BJP government at Centre and Congress government in Maharashtra have locked horns over the Pune metro project.
While Union minister Nitin Gadkari had said that Chavan and his government was responsible for the delay in starting the metro project in Pune, Chavan accused the BJP government of discriminating against Pune by giving priority to the Nagpur project.
