: Puneri Paltan captain Surjeet Singh is hopeful the team will bounce back after a tough season so far in the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League and thinks the Chennai leg could be the beginning.

"The season so far has been a mixed bag for us, and we have had our share of hits and misses. Having said that, wins and defeats are a part of the game. The league has just begun, we have the entire season ahead of us. With the efforts that we are putting in, I am sure our team will bounce back," he told PTI in an interaction.

Pune has so far won only two of its seven matches and lies at the bottom of the points table (with 11).

"I have complete faith in the boys and we will definitely put up a good performance in the upcoming matches," he added.

Surjeet Singh said he was looking forward to playing in the Chennai and the team was approaching it with a positive outlook.

"I am looking forward to playing in Chennai and have a very positive outlook for the new leg. We will playing against Tamil Thalaivas followed by Bengaluru Bulls and have devised strategies and tactics accordingly.

"We have worked on our combinations and have covered every position. I am optimistic about Puneri Paltans performance for the upcoming leg," he added.

He said Paltan had a good mix of experienced as well as young players and expected them to do well in the coming games.

Surjeet Singh said the team had worked on the fitness keeping the long season in mind and added the players had laid emphasis on it during the pre-season camps.

"Fitness is extremely crucial for playing any sport. When it comes to Kabaddi, it is of utmost importance, due to the rugged and rough sport that it is. During our pre-season preparations, we had two camps-one in Goa which was completely devoted to fitness training. In the second camp in Pune, we concentrated on fitness and our game," he added.
