The chief minister lauded the "daughter of the soil" for bringing laurels to Punjab and the nation.
Disclosing this here, a spokesperson of the Chief Ministers Office said the winner was given a warm welcome in her home village by the state government.
The district administration led by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Sub Divisional Magistrate was present to welcome Navjot in her native Bagria village and to congratulate her parents Sukhchain Singh and Gian Kaur along with coach Ashok Kumar, he said.
He said Navjot's achievement would also bolster the confidence of young wrestlers to repeat the success story in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
