Punjab govt to honour panchayats of 'drug-free' villages

Directions have been issued to identify the villages that are completely free from drugs after which the panchayats of those villages would be specially honoured, Rural Development and Panchayat minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said here today.

He said that the department would also initiate a campaign in the villages having maximum cases of drug usage and efforts would be initiated to curb the trend.

Under the drive, seminars would also be held to make the people aware of the ill-effects of drug addiction.
