Punjab jail head warder dismissed for supplying heroin

Punjab government today dismissed the head warder of Jalandhar Central Jail for allegedly supplying drugs to inmates, an official spokesperson said.
Ajmer Singh, head warder at Central jail Jalandhar (Kapurthala), had allegedly helped an inmate Amritpal Singh to purchase heroin worth Rs 1,48,000, the spokesperson said.
The accused has been barred from joining any government duty in future, the spokesperson said.
Superintendent, Headquarters Jail, Gurdaspur, Surinder Singh dismissed Ajmer Singh from duty as he was found guilty of the charge during an inquiry, he said.
