Realising that farmers in Nuapada and Kalahandi districts have been hit by unseasonal rains, the Odisha government today announced provision of seeds, fertiliser and pesticides on a priority basis for the kharif season.
"I will ensure supply of requirements like seeds, fertiliser and pesticide to farmers in rain-hit Nuapada and Kahalandi districts," Agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy told reporters after visiting the two western districts.
Officials have been asked to access the damage in the two districts, he said.
Agriculture department sources said paddy cultivation in over 13,984 hectare has been damaged in three blocks of Junagarh, Jayapatna, and Kalampur of Kalahandi district affecting 10,552 farmers.
Similarly, Komna block in Nuapada district has also been hit where over 56 hectare of paddy and vegetables have been damaged.
Meanwhile, the revenue department has sought crop loss damages due to the unseasonal rains last month in different districts of the state.
