Punjab to set up 914 Edusat labs

To impart quality education among students residing in remote areas of the state, the Punjab government will set up 914 more Edusat computer labs with a budget of Rs 48.81 crore during the current fiscal.
The government has already set up 2,077 such labs under a NABARD project to enhance teaching and learning process in the state schools, an official spokesperson said.
He said rural students, who were not able to a pay hefty fees at coaching centres, were able to prepare themselves through satellite learning, and as many as 2,411 such students were selected in engineering and medical colleges through e-learning programme.

2,791 Edusat classroom ends have been established with 516 Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs) and 2291 Receive Only Terminals (ROTs) in various government secondary schools and high schools in the state, the officer said.
He said the Punjab Edusat Society had provided free coaching tele-services to the 10+2 students of medical and non-medical streams for competitive examinations.
In addition to the competitive coaching classes, the society is broadcasting regular lectures on hard topics in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English and Commerce to the students.
