Cheema said a special survey undertaken by the department had identified as many as 34 schools where this language was not being taught to the students as of now.
The decision has been made to promote Punjabi language and culture as well as to strengthen ties with the next generation of Punjabis settled abroad, the minister said.
He added that state government would also start "Online Punjabi Certificate Course" from the next academic session.
