Apart from these two flyovers, PWD will also construct a loop near Maharana Pratap ISBT following which Roadways buses of Haryana and Punjab coming from GT Karnal Road will no longer be required to take U turn to enter the inter-state bus terminal.
Unified Traffic Transportation Infrastructure Planning and Engineering Centre (UTTIPEC) and Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) have also given their nod to this project.
"First flyover will start from Signature Bridge and end near Majnu Ka Tilla red light ahead of Gurudwara situated on Outer Ring Road. This flyover will prove very helpful to decongest traffic on this stretch as vehicles coming from GT Karnal Road will be diverted on it," said a senior official of PWD.
The official also said that they would construct another flyover at Metecalfe House T junctions and end with Y shape near Sanskrit vidyalaya.
"With the construction of these two flyovers, a signal-free corridor will come up from Vikaspuri to Nizamuddin. Motorists can enjoy singal-free driving on this stretch," he said.
Hundreds of buses from Haryana and Punjab Roadways also use this stretch due to which traffic volume is very high during peak hours.
"Apart from these two flyovers, we have also decided to construct a loop near Maharana Pratap ISBT following which U-turn will be removed. Presently, buses of Haryana and Punjab Roadways coming from GT Karnal Road use U-turn to enter ISBT, which often causes accidents. After constructing loop, buses wanting to enter ISBT can use it, which will be helpful to decongest traffic near inter-state bus terminal," he added.
