After starring as a green-clad witch on NBC's "The Wiz Live!", Queen Latifah turns into a red head for Lee Daniels' new music drama.
The Golden Globe and Grammy Award-winning actress/singer sported candy red hair when she was pictured on the set of the TV series, reported Ace Showbiz.
The 45-year-old actress was filming the pilot in Atlanta on Thursday, December 17.
She rocked a red wig, a patterned gold and purple blouse and cherry red trousers. She was seen having a chat with her co-star and hugging a crew member during a break from filming.
In the project from the "Empire" co-creator, Latifah plays Carlotta, an owner of an Atlanta beauty salon who has a beautiful voice. She is described as a surrogate mother to three girls who have musical dreams of their own, "even though she doesn't approve of their musical dreams."
The show itself centers on these "three girls who come together to form a band and it's about their rise to the top in a very challenging business." Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O'Grady have been cast as these three girls.
Currently titled "Star", it is written, directed and executive produced by Daniels. Tom Donaghy serves as an executive producer and co-writes the pilot with Daniels.
