This Republic Day saw Union Minister for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy and his brother and NSG director general Sudhir Pratap Singh celebrate a first as departments headed by both participated for the first time ever in the R-Day parade at Rajpath.
While Skill Development Ministry's tableau was included in the R-Day parade for the first time ever, the contingent of NSG commandos, popularly known as black cat commandos, also proudly marched along the Rajpath making their debut in R-Day parade since NSG's formation.
It was a proud moment for both brothers as they personally monitored the tableaux and march past.
Singh, a 1983-batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre is Rudy's elder brother and heads the National Security Guard (NSG) formed as an Indian special forces unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
NSG was raised in 1984 following Operation Blue Star and the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to combat terrorist activities with a view to protect states against internal disturbances.
The Skill Development Ministry's tableau is an attempt to portray the efforts undertaken by the ministry to make Indians skilled and be ready for job opportunities.
The tableau showcased the paradigm "Transforming India through Skill Development", at the Republic Day parade, displaying their flagship programmes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and ITI.
