Built by a group of undergraduates of the institution, the new car 'K-3' will compete in the Formula Student Russia 2016 this September with around 30 teams comprising 800 students from all over the world.
"Our fourth car K-3 is our lightest car weighing at just 220 kgs. It is also fuel efficient providing a fuel efficiency of 15 kmpl in comparison to the earlier 2 kmpl that we got from K-2. We have started designing of our fifth car K-4, whose manufacturing has been slated in August 2016," said team leader Ketan Mundhra.
So far they have manufactured four such cars and participated in four competitions.
The team employs aluminium alloys for its chassis and an all-new damper-suspension system which provides more flexibility to its tuning. The use of carbon fibre body panels ensure the weight to be restricted at 220 kg.
