Radio Maej Kasheer, a community-based online FM radio station will be launched on Thursday in Jammu winter capital city to reach out to Kashmiris worldwide.
"We are launching our Radio Maej Kasheer FM radio station at function on 24th September 2015 here", Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Radio Maej Kasheer, Kuldeep Saproo said here today.
The radio station would be inaugurated by Speaker of J&K Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi.
Saproo, who is a famous music director, said "the appellation, 'RADIO MAEJ KASHEER' chosen for our internet radio has been derived from the word 'MAEJ KASHEER', which symbolises humility, togetherness and utmost regard for our motherland, Kashmir".
"We will reach out to our displaced KP Community, which is scattered across the world. With this initiative, we would like to make our community aware about our Kashmiri music, movies, drama, talk shows etc etc", he said.
Saproo said "for children born in exile after migration from Kashmir valley, the erosion of cultural values has played a significant part. Not only the language, but also our cultural traditions have suffered unprecedented damage. We want to revive language and culture among youngsters."
Radio Maej Kasheer will be exploring dormant talent, who, for some reason or the other could not get a proper pedestal and come to the forefront, he said.
"We will be training our youth in fields of art like music, dance, play writing, painting depending upon their aptitude and get them on air to express their views and feelings without any fear", he said.
Through this radio station, we will be holding lessons and discussions on revival of Kashmiri language, with proper stress on diction, so that cultural renaissance could be attained which has lost it's pristine glory because of the modern trend, where English has become the most sought after medium of expression, he added.
"The radio will also hold regular discussions on universal brotherhood, national integration and eradication of evils from the society in present scenario", he said.
It will also hold regular discussions on History of Kashmir, so that our youth get to know their cultural moorings.
