Super30 student Brijesh Kumar Saroj, son of a low paid worker, was congratulated and offered financial assistance by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and actor Aamir Khan for clearing JEE-Advance.
A resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, Saroj's father is a low-paid worker in a cloth mill in Surat and his family faces acute financial hardship.
The youth was at mathematician Anand Kumar's residential academy Super30 when the phone call from the two personalities came.
"I could not believe that Rahulji and Amir Khan were congratulating me over my success and offered me help," said an overjoyed Saroj.
Referring to himself, the youth said "Once at Super 30, I got the opportunity to concentrate on my studies without bothering about anything else."
Kumar hailed the gesture of Gandhi and Khan.
"It is a good sign that eminent personalities are taking so much interest in the success of students from underprivileged sections. It will work as big motivation for them," he said.
Kumar said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has invited the youth to felicitate him.
He said the Union minister of State for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan and University of Tokyo too has sent congratulatory messages on the success of Super30 students.
Continuing with its good showing like earlier years, 25 out of 30 students from Super30 cleared JEE Advance this year for admission in various IITs.
