"If Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi becomes the party chief, then it will be much better for us in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. BJP would get more seats than what it won in the 2014 general elections," BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijaywargiya told reporters here.
He was asked to comment on speculation about Rahul's possible elevation as Congress president.
The saffron outfit had won an absolute majority (over 280 Lok Sabha seats) in the 2014 general elections. It was for the first time in three decades a party had won comfortable majority on its own in the Lower House of Parliament.
