"If Rahul Gandhi decides so, it is certainly a welcome move and it will definitely help the party. But, as Soniaji has said, it is for him to decide," Deo told reporters here.
He was replying to reporters queries whether Rahul Gandhi will take a decision on playing a larger and active role in the party.
Deo's comments came a day after Sonia had said that it was for Rahul to decide for himself on playing a larger role in the party.
"No one can take a decision on his behalf. He has to take a decision," Gandhi had said in Parliament House.
These comments come against the backdrop of pleas made by senior Congress leaders like Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid for Rahul to play a larger role in the party.
