Doonites today had the much needed respite from heat as light to heavy showers hit the plains of Uttarakhand causing a dramatic drop in temperature in the Himalayan foothills including Haridwar and Mussoorie.
The temperature in Dehradun nosedived from yesterday's 39.6 degrees Celsius to today's 26 deg C, recording a drop of more than 10 degrees, MeT office Director Anand Sharma said.
The MeT official attributed the showers to a cyclonic circulation and an extended low pressure in the form of a trough over Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh.
