Rains skip Delhi, parts of Raj, HP receive showers

It was a dry day for Delhi but the temperature remained around normal level for this period of the year.

The maximum was recorded at 32.6 deg C, one degree below normal while the minimum stood at 26 deg C, one degree above normal.

Neighbouring Punjab and Haryana also remained dry and maximum temperature hovered around normal level at various places.

However, the MeT office has forecast moderate to heavy rains at isolated areas in the two states.

Chandigarh recorded maximum temperature at 34.5 deg C, 2 degrees above normal, while Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum of 34.8 deg C, 33.4 deg C and 33.6 deg C respectively.

In Haryana, Ambala, Bhiwani, Hisar and Karnal registered 34.3 deg C, 32 deg C, 32.4 deg C and 32 deg C respectively.

Narnaul had a high of 30 deg C while Rohtak recorded 32.1 deg C.

Light to moderate rainfall occurred in several areas of Rajasthan with Dabok receiving 32 mm rains followed by Erapura at 17 mm. Jaipur, Vanasthali, Ajmer, Pilani and Kota recorded 10.9, 7, 3.6, 2 and 1.6 mm rains.

The MeT department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall during the next 36 hours at few places in Southern parts of the state.

In Himchal Pradesh, day temperatures rose marginally in most parts even as Shimla and some other areas were lashed by rains and hailstorm. Paonta Sahib, Nahan in Sirmaur district, Kufri and Manali also received rains.

Una, which was hottest in the hill state, recorded 36.2 deg C, four degree above normal.

While the day temperature stayed at 21.0 deg C in Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district it rose to 33 deg C and 32.7 deg C in Bhuntar and Sundernagar.

Una with minimum temperature at 22.5 deg C, five degree above normal was warmest during the night while Dharamsala and Sundernagar recorded a low of 21.5 deg C, followed by Palampur 20.5 deg C, Bhuntar 20.0 deg C, Shimla 16 deg C and Manali 15 deg C.
