Raj: 47 injured in drunk driving accidents on New Year's eve

At least 47 people were injured in road accidents due to drunk driving on New Year's eve, authorities of the state-run SMS Hospital said today.
Between December 31, 8 PM, and January 1, 8 AM, 47 people were injured in road accidents due to drunk driving, they said, adding there were also seven cases of assault.
Meanwhile, as many as 56 motorists were booked for drunk driving, police said.
"Personnel were directed to keep a vigil on drunk driving cases and 56 motorists were booked for drinking beyond the permissible limit on December 31 night," DCP (Traffic) Haidar Ali Zaidi said today.
Ahead of New Year celebrations, police stations had been directed to keep a check drunk and rash driving, he added.
