Rajasthan Cabinet today decided to disinvest two units of Giral Lignite Power Limited (GLPL) in view of losses in per unit power production.
"The cabinet has decided for 100 per cent disinvestment of two GLPL units. The plant, a Rajasthan Rajya Vidhyut Utpadan Nigam Limited subsidiary, was set up in two phases and power production began in 2011," said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore.
"The per unit power production was Rs 7.96 in 2014-15 and Rs 12.33 in 2015-16 with a loss of Rs 2.99 and Rs 3.01 respectively. Therefore, the decision for disinvestment was taken. It will take place as per the laid procedure through open bidding," he said.
He informed the second phase of Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan will begin from November 16 under which works worth Rs 1950 crore will be undertaken in 4200 villages.
Besides, he said, the Cabinet has decided to introduce a special campaign from November 1 and Panchayat Shivirs after October 14 to resolve passage disputes in villages.
"The shivirs will be held in two gram panchayats every Friday after October 14. The Panchayti Raj and Rural Development, Social Justice and Empowerment, Food and Civil Supplies, and Health departments will participate in the campaign," he said.
"Works like distributing digital ration cards, birth and death certificates, physical verification of properties, issuance of paata among others will be taken up at the Shivirs. All the Gram Panchayats will be covered under the campaign," he said.
The cabinet also reviewed the preparations for the three-day Global Rajasthan AgriTech summit to be held in November.
"50,000 farmers will participate in the summit and 20 per cent of them will be women. Special trains will be run to ferry farmers from Udaipur, Sriganganagar and Barmer," he informed.
