Sinking their five-year-old differences, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today shared dais with Amitabh Bachchan and said that whatever happened between him and the actor is now a thing of the past.
Praising the actor for his immense contribution to the Indian film industry, Raj said Amitabh Bachchan is not the brand ambassador of any state in particular but of the nation.
Raj made it clear that he sticks to his words said in the past but also clarified that there was nothing personal between them.
"What happened in the past is done. It was never ever personal. Time and again, from my speeches, I have been repeating that an actor of his stature has not dawned on the screen in the past 100 years in the country and probably never would even in the future. And thus, he belongs to India and he is an ambassador of the entire nation," Thackeray said.
He was speaking at the seventh anniversary of his party's movie industry wing Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNCKS) at the Shanmukhanand Hall in Central Mumbai.
"Just like citizens of Allahabad love Amitabh Bachchan, so do people of Maharashtra," Thackeray said, adding people in the country love Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar and Bachchan similarly.
"One must learn the command over the language from him. The finesse in Hindi that he possesses. While hosting 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' he is remarkable and could be learnt from," Thackeray said.
Earlier, Bachchan won the hearts of the audience by addressing them in Marathi. He congratulated and thanked Raj Thackeray for initiatives like life insurance policies for backstage artistes.
