The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) employees' strike entered the ninth day Tuesday.
In a bid to intensify the strike, family members of the protesting employees have lent their support to the stir.
Nearly 16,000 roadways employees from 52 depots in the state have been on strike for the past nine days. Passengers continued to face hard times on Tuesday as 4,700 buses remained off the roads.
The employees have been protesting since September 7 demanding the government implement the seventh pay commission recommendations, lift the ban on recruitment for 8,000 vacant posts in roadways, and replacement of 1,000 buses which have run 8 lakh kilometers.
As of now, the government has not taken steps to hold talks with the employees, Kishan Singh Rathore, general secretary of Rajasthan Roadways Workers Union (CIT) told PTI.
Nearly 650 people, including 300 women and children, participated in the protests at Sindhi Camp Bus Stand today, Rathore said.
He said various employees unions have extended support to the strike.
