Raj youth drowns in Chambal during idol immersion, 2 rescued

A youth drowned while immersing a Ganesha idol in the Chambal river here on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi while two others were rescued.
The celebration and festivity turned into a tragedy when three youths fell into the Chambal at Rangpur Ghat last evening.
Two of the three were rescued but the third one could not be saved.
The body was handed over to his family members after post-mortem this morning.
The deceased was identified as Pramod Suman alias Lala (30), a resident of Railway Colony area, said Shivraj Gujar, SHO at Railway Colony Police station.
The youth along with other family members and friends had gone to immerse Ganesha idol in the river at Rangpur Ghat, he said.

While the idol was being immersed in water, the three youths went into deep water and began drowning but locals present immediately jumped into the water and rescued two of the three youths, he said.

Pramod was swept away and by the time rescuers could reach him, he was dead, the police official said.
He was immediately rushed to Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital but doctors declared him dead, he added.
A case under section 174 of CrPC was lodged in the matter and further investigation is underway.
