Railways will add two more coaches to all Rajdhani trains to accommodate more passengers in the premier service.
This will augment the capacity in all Rajdhani trains by 144 berths to begin with.
Currently Rajdhani trains are having 22 coaches.
Later on, other trains with German Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches including Shatabdi, Duronto and Mail/Express service which have high demand will also be provided additional coaches to cater to the growing demand of passengers.
It has been decided to augment capacity of all LHB trains and we will begin with Rajdhani service, said a senior Railway Ministry official.
Besides Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi, some Mail/Express services are also being equipped with LHB coaches.
According to the plan, while two additional coaches would be added in Rajdhani, other Mail/Express trains will be provided three LHB coaches.
