Sharma is presently CMD of Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved appointment of Sharma to the post of CMD, PFC, for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
He will take over the new responsibility from October 1, 2016 after incumbent M K Goel completes his tenure in September end, it said.
Sharma has been the CMD of REC since November 29, 2011. With a vast experience in power sector, Sharma has also served as Director of Projects for PFC during March 2009 and November 2011.
