Actor Rajkummar Rao is gaining weight and learning Bengali for his portrayal of Indian leader Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for upcoming web series "Bose".
"I am doing a lot of prep work for the film. I am reading a lot of books and watching videos. There is a lot of material in the script that is available to us. I am learning Bengali for it and gaining weight... I am gaining around eight to 10 kilos," Rajkummar told PTI.
The 32-year-old actor has also gone half bald to resemble the late freedom fighter. Taking to Twitter, he shared the new haircut and announced that the makers will release the first look soon.
"For the look we will not make use of prosthetic, we will have less make up. We will find way to get as close to his look as possible. I am leaving no stone unturned for this," he says.
According to the "Shahid" actor, the makers will touch upon the childhood of Bose and his growing up years among other things in the web series, to be directed by Hansal Mehta.
"We are showing his story, journey from his school and college days to his disappearance," he adds, without divulging further details.
"I am feeling a lot of responsibility on my shoulder to play this role of a larger than life personality. I am a fan of Subhash Chandra Bose and we are getting close to reality as much as possible but let's see how it shapes up. I am keeping my fingers crossed."
It will be aired on Ekta Kapoor's web channel ALT Balaji on Independence Day.
On Twitter, Rajkummar wrote, "Got a hair cut done for #Bose. We'll soon put out the first look as Bose. Until then, these are the post hair cut pictures. Thank you @AalimHakim (sic)"
The series also features actress Patralekhaa. She will play the role of an elitist Bengal woman.
